Emerging Voices 2018

Emerging Voices is a biennial citation awarded to individuals and firms with distinct voices and demonstrated influence in Atlanta’s design community.

Since 2001, the juried series has presented a public forum for the exhibition of local, early-career architects and designers, encouraging the exchange of ideas among these practitioners and the public.

We invite design professionals to submit work of all types, theoretical or real, and executed in any medium. The jury then selects work for public exhibition.

2018 Honoree

Jeffrey Collins, AIA

Jeffrey spent his formative years working with renowned Atlanta-based firm Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture, with concentration in Design Computation, at Georgia Tech. Since 2009, he has taught architecture studio and lecture courses at Georgia Tech, Southern Polytechnic State University, Auburn University and Kennesaw State University.

Jeffrey’s Exhibit

Jeffrey presented an exhibit that questions the typical exteriors of our buildings and the multiple meanings of the term ‘envelope.’ The installation explores parametric variations emanating from a series basic steps: (1) given a space, (2) populated with control points, (3) define curves, and (4) join to create surfaces.
