About the Competition

AIA Atlanta proudly presents the 12th Annual High School Student Design Competition (HHSDC), open to all high school students in the state of Georgia. We have two competition levels: beginner and advanced. The beginner level is designed for students in grades 9 and 10 with no or little architectural background. Advanced is best for grades 11 and 12, or students who have a solid design background. HSSDC’s primary goal is to engage high school students in the design process and educate them about the possibility of a career in architecture.

In 2016, we saw more  than 130 projects from 28 different high schools. This year, we hope to top that! Following the competition, we will host a gallery of all the projects and announce the winners during a special ceremony. The jury is comprised of architects, many having much experience with HSSDC.
