Call for Articles

AIA Atlanta invites submissions for the 2019 issue of Design Equilibrium, the chapter’s annual magazine educating, engaging and generating discussion on the built environment. The publication features articles written by architecture and design enthusiasts, and also highlights the many programs produced by the chapter throughout the year. Design Equilibrium will be released in spring 2019 digitally and in print.

Submissions are open to the public. Articles must be original. No promotional or marketing pieces are accepted. Design Equilibrium is a zero-profit publication.

Each contributing author will receive one complimentary physical copy of Design Equilibrium.

What We’re Looking For

Design for Growth

Atlanta was recently named the third fastest-growing city in the country. As the population expands, design must anticipate and respond. Design Equilibrium seeks articles providing insight on new developments, adaptive reuse projects and ways the built environment is responding to Atlanta’s growth.

Design for Social Impact

Watching or reading the news can spur a pessimist outlook on the world. Disaster strikes. People clash. However, architects play an important role in bringing together communities through design. Design Equilibrium seeks articles that explain how designers and architects are responding to current social issues in the state and around the country, including climate change, health, security, diversity and inclusion.
