About Us

AIA Atlanta is proud to sponsor the annual AIA Atlanta Tour Series, an exhibition of significant architectural works designed to increase public awareness of noteworthy architectural projects throughout the metro Atlanta area. In addition, the Tour Series strives to better inform the general public about the process of design and the important role of architects and how their work betters the community.

AIA Atlanta Tours Committee

A volunteer effort with the goal of educating the general public about architecture through guided tours of significant projects in the Atlanta area, committee members guide tours generally from 2 PM to 5 PM on the 3rd Saturday of each month between April and November/December. Tours are quite popular with attendance levels usually around 100 and are an excellent opportunity for local practices to gain exposure and feedback from the public.

For more information on joining the tour committee or for general questions regarding tours, please contact the Co-chairs for AIA Tours, Kacie Sizemore and John Stone at aiaatlantatours@gmail.com.

TOUR ELITE SPONSOR

A great initiative, the Tour Series, not only brings architecture to the general public, but also strives to introduce professionals to the local architecture community and help them understand the design and construction process of featured projects. It is a great way for professionals to learn about new projects, design strategies, and building technologies from their colleagues.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies that may or may not have done work on the projects selected for the series. This includes manufacturers, supplier reps and architecture, engineering, and consulting firms.

Sponsor levels for the AIA Tours Committee:

  • ‘Elite’ Sponsor
  • ‘Series’ Sponsor
  • ‘Primary’ Sponsor
  • ‘Supporting’ Sponsor

For more information on sponsorship, please contact Co-chairs Kacie Sizemore and John Stone at aiaatlantatours@gmail.com.

Student & Professional Volunteers:

We are always looking for volunteers to act as liaisons to local high schools, colleges, universities, and professional societies. Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Tour Series coordinator on at least three tour dates
  • Assisting in the setup/breakdown of tour
  • Ensuring visitors have an enjoyable and rewarding tour experience
  • Working closely with other committee chairs on assignments as needed

Please e-mail aiaatlantatours@gmail.com, if you are interested.

Workshops and Procrastination Day

ARE Workshops

To better prepare for the rigorous Architectural Registration Exams, participate in one of our weekend workshops. Gain knowledge and insight from experts in various fields such as Professor David Thaddeus’ well-regarded and highly popular, General Structures workshop.

Held twice a year to provide help to those a few credits short, Procrastination Day is a solution to continuing education needs.
